Shive-Hattery has an immediate opening in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area with our Industrial Team for a licensed Civil Engineer with over five years of professional experience. Candidates with related design backgrounds and knowledge of the market will be considered.


With the support of the Group Leader and other civil engineers located in the Midwest this position performs a variety of duties associated with design primarily on food, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and industrial development projects and related services, to assist in achieving desired client satisfaction, and business results.


This position’s initial focus is to support current project work over the design and construction phases as the primary local point of contact for our client. Having an entrepreneurial drive and willingness to build relationships is strongly encouraged.

Participation in applicable ASCE, NCEES, and/or community activities is preferred.

  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings, reports and technical specifications
  • Design roadways, trails, parking lots, site grading, drainage and storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design, water main design, project phasing, traffic control and other site design components
  • Perform onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting and monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents
  • Collaborate with other Engineers on multi-discipline teams
  • Work as a design leader in collaboration with a design team
  • Manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organization and prioritization with attention to detail
  • Delegate to less experienced engineers and CAD technicians
  • Perform civil engineering design for site and land development projects, as well as design for a wide variety of public and private projects in the industrial, healthcare, education, commercial and government market sectors
