Job description

FloSports is the leading digital platform for underserved sports, combining live and on-demand streaming, original programming, data, and technology to help sports grow their audiences and build sustainable businesses, from youth to professional levels. By bringing thousands of events and communities onto one platform, Flo creates scale where none previously existed, connecting passionate fans with the sports they love while giving athletes, organizers, and rights holders the tools to reach and engage a global audience.
Flo streams more than 50,000 live events annually across sports, including motorsports, wrestling, hockey, track & field, cheer, jiu-jitsu, NCAA Division II and III athletics, and more. We're looking for people who are passionate about sports, embody accountability, collaboration, curiosity, positivity, grit, and excellence, and are motivated to help grow and elevate the communities we serve.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Native Apps Engineer to join our mobile and TV platform squad, building and evolving the streaming experiences that bring fans closer to the sports they love. This role is primarily hands-on, writing native iOS and Android code, with the expectation of contributing across our TV platforms (Apple TV, Fire TV/Android TV, Roku) as needed. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in at least one mobile platform, a willingness to work across all of them, and a strong command of AI-assisted development workflows that accelerate delivery and elevate team productivity. This is a high-growth position with a clear path toward Staff-level engineering leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain native iOS and Android applications, delivering high-quality streaming experiences at scale.
  • Contribute to TV platform applications (Apple TV, Fire TV/Android TV, Roku) alongside a team of cross-platform engineers.
  • Partner with BFF engineers to define API contracts and server-driven UI patterns that power the native experience layer.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate personal and team productivity, and champion adoption of these workflows across the squad.
  • Drive architectural decisions for the native platform, establishing shared patterns, reusable components, and cross-platform consistency.
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering leadership to translate business objectives into well-scoped technical work.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and contractors, contributing to quality standards and knowledge sharing across the squad.
  • Identify and address technical debt that impacts platform stability, performance, or developer velocity.
  • Champion best practices around app security, crash reporting, observability, and release quality.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong proficiency in Swift and Kotlin with hands-on experience shipping production mobile applications.
  • Deep understanding of native mobile development patterns, architecture, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) and a track record of using them to accelerate delivery.
  • Familiarity with live streaming, video playback, or media-rich application development.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms or a demonstrated willingness to learn new ones.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and experience collaborating with backend teams on API design and integration.
  • Familiarity with app performance monitoring, crash reporting, and observability tooling.
  • Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines and tooling (e.g., Fastlane, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud).
  • Ownership mindset with a bias for action and a drive to solve hard problems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team with a mix of FTEs and contractors.
  • A growth-oriented mindset with curiosity to explore new technologies and platforms.

BONUS POINTS
  • Experience with server-driven UI (SDUI) or backend-for-frontend (BFF) architecture patterns.
  • Experience with TV platform development (tvOS, Fire TV, Android TV, Roku).
  • Contributions to shared component libraries or design systems in a native mobile context.
