The Manager II, Internal Communications (Communications Strategy & Operations) leads the strategy, operations, governance, technology, analytics, channels and team that power enterprise employee communications. This role ensures communications are aligned, data-driven and effective in supporting organizational priorities, employee engagement and business transformation.

This role is ideal for a strategic communications leader who thrives at the intersection of planning, operations and execution. You will establish the frameworks, processes and capabilities that enable effective communication across the enterprise, while partnering with senior leaders to guide communication strategy, support executive and change initiatives and strengthen audience engagement.

You will also lead efforts to advance communications through data, technology, AI and continuous improvement, helping the function evolve to meet changing organizational needs.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with operational excellence and strong leadership. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders and translating business priorities into actionable communications strategies. You bring experience building high-performing teams, leveraging insights to drive decisions and creating the systems, partnerships and capabilities that enable communicators and leaders to succeed at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements internal communication strategies that support business objectives and engage diverse employee audiences.

  • Partners with senior leaders to provide strategic counsel on communication plans related to transformation, culture, and organizational priorities.

  • Manages communication channels, tools, and platforms to ensure consistent messaging and operational efficiency.

  • Oversees content development and editorial processes, guiding tone, style and delivery to align with audience needs and company voice.

  • Leads cross-functional initiatives, coordinating with stakeholders to execute high-impact communication campaigns.

  • Applies data and insights to measure communication effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

  • Communicates corporate policies, updates, and initiatives across all levels, reinforcing company values and strategic direction.

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, making informed decisions on priorities, resources and timelines.

  • Builds relationships across teams to drive alignment, influence outcomes and foster collaboration.

  • Supports team development through mentoring and knowledge sharing, contributing to a culture of growth and excellence.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College/university degree and 7+ years work experience; 3+ years of management experience.

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional communication initiatives.

  • Expertise in executive communications, change management and employee engagement.

  • Experience developing and leading enterprise communications governance, planning processes, standards, and operating frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

  • Experience managing enterprise communications platforms, intranets, content management systems and digital employee communications channels.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple teams, ensuring alignment and cohesion in achieving objectives.

  • Experience leading enterprise internal communications functions within large, complex organizations.

  • Expertise in managing projects from conception to execution, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

  • Experience supporting crisis communications, reputation management and communication response planning.

  • Ability to analyze diverse data and identify trends to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex ideas and strategies to various audiences.

  • Flexibility to adapt strategies and processes in response to evolving business conditions or challenges.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; 5+ years of management experience.

  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures and/or prior financial services industry experience.
