Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring deliverables are met and assigned initiative and/or project outcomes are measured and achieved. Partners across divisions to include multidisciplinary teams to advance strategic priorities through the implementation of innovative solutions and structured workflows. Provides strategic direction through analysis and insights to drive strategic choices and the planning process in line with the long-term strategic plan. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with both internal and external partners. Serves as change agent, championing agile ways of thinking and working to enable teams and individuals for success. 

In partnership with site nursing leadership, key stakeholders, and the designated Department of Nursing strategy team, the Advisor - Nursing Strategic Planning & Execution is responsible for supporting the development, planning, and execution of strategic priorities. Key functions include:

  • Leadership & Influence: Maintain executive presence while leveraging strong communication skills to engage and align stakeholders at all levels. Foster relationships and influence without formal authority. Demonstrate comfort and proficiency in navigating ambiguity.  
  • Strategy Development & Planning: Gather data and insights and conduct assessments to provide strategic recommendations to leadership. Leverage strategic frameworks to guide the creation of site strategic plans and ensure alignment of priorities to the institutional vision, mission, and objectives. 
  • Strategy Execution: Partner closely with site leadership to develop and operationalize strategic plans, identifying key measures of success and critical tactics to advance strategic priorities. Support the implementation of initiatives across the department and identify areas of opportunity, gaps and potential barriers to execution of operational plan. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in strategic intelligence, strategic planning, strategy development, client services, business or management consulting, project management, operations, market analysis or health care. 
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information. 
  • Must possess competencies in problem-solving and systems thinking, risk taking and innovation, collaborative leadership, executive communication, navigating ambiguity, driving results and equity inclusion and diversity. 
  • Must demonstrate sound decision-making and judgement capabilities, with attention to detail and the ability to facilitate processes leading to identified outcomes. Highly motivated, flexible, creative and self-directed individual. 
  • Must possess strong executive presence, oral and written communication, presentation skills, and superior interpersonal skills to facilitate effective relationships both within and outside of Mayo Clinic. 
  • Financial and business acumen to create viable analysis, strategies and pragmatic strategy and operational plans. Strong alignment with Mayo's core values.
