Position Summary

The Payor Contracting and Strategy Manager is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Payor Contracting and Strategy Manager is part of the fast-paced national growth team focused on expanding payor partnerships to bring Compassus' care to more patients. This is a cross-functional role that interacts with external partners and senior leaders across Contracting, Operations, Finance, Strategy, M&A, and ancillary business lines. S/he supports the development of a payor contracting strategy, maintains existing relationships, and manages new opportunities to grow the business.


Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Monitors the existing payor portfolio and identifies ongoing opportunities across four core service lines (hospice, palliative, home health, home infusion).
  • Effectively manages the payor engagement process inclusive of material creation, financial modeling, outreach, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
  • Facilitates the development of an annual payor contracting strategy in collaboration with the Payor Contracting leadership, finance, and service line leadership.
  • Develops analyses, roadmaps, and materials for a variety of audiences to support future growth strategy.
  • Acts as an escalation point for any payor-related issues and works with internal teams to quickly resolve (collections, credentialing, implementation, etc.).
  • Supports the development of organizational structuring and best practices for payor contracting operations.
  • Coordinates and communicates contract changes and payor performance with local market leadership teams, finance, revenue cycle, and patient intake.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare work experience with payor strategy, contracting, negotiations, and/or account management.


Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. In addition to the base mathematical skills, there will be a need to forecast results for targeted payer strategies based on estimate volumes and fees.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy.
