Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing complex mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role manages all aspects of project execution including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and team leadership while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, capable of managing multiple projects, driving financial performance, and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced construction environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Oversee project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and deadlines.
  • Manage project documentation including contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs.
  • Conduct project turnover meetings and ensure proper project setup and planning.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Coordinate material and equipment procurement to meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • Oversee billing processes including schedule of values, progress billing, and collections.
  • Manage change orders, including pricing, negotiation, and execution.
  • Ensure projects are properly staffed and monitor labor productivity and resource allocation.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Lead regular project meetings with internal teams, clients, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and project partners.
  • Ensure successful project closeout including documentation, financial reconciliation, and final deliverables.

Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project management and operations teams.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and performance excellence.
  • Establish and improve project management processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide oversight of project accounting, cost reporting, and productivity tracking.
  • Collaborate with leadership on project strategy, execution planning, and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM/VDC teams to support project design and constructability.
  • Support fabrication and production strategies across multiple disciplines.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution, efficiency, and team performance.

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale mechanical projects including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, financial management, and project controls.
  • Experience leading teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-performance construction environment.
  • Proficiency with project management and ERP systems such as Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and BIM/VDC tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing projects involving fabrication, prefabrication, and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Strong background in design-build or complex mechanical project delivery methods.
  • Experience contributing to business strategy, project planning, and operational leadership.
