Job description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and long-term growth of a high-volume distribution center located in the Airdrie, Alberta area.

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving operational excellence, developing management teams, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for a results-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams while supporting organizational growth and transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and develop management teams to achieve and exceed operational, financial, and health & safety performance objectives.
• Oversee daily distribution center operations across multiple shifts while maintaining a strategic focus on long-term operational success.
• Drive continuous improvement and transformation initiatives related to processes, technology, automation, and equipment.
• Contribute to strategic planning, including production capacity, workforce planning, automation initiatives, and capital investment projects.
• Participate in budget planning, financial analysis, and cost optimization efforts.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Transportation, Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, and Retail Operations to support business objectives.
• Develop leadership capabilities within the management team and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Champion a proactive health and safety culture by ensuring best practices are implemented and sustained throughout the distribution center.
Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• MBA is considered an asset.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive operations management experience within a high-volume distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
• Experienced working in a start up role helping implement processes and developing operational strategies.
• Proven success leading large teams and managing operational transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of operational KPIs, performance metrics, and analytical tools.
• Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
