Job Description
The MBSE Core Capabilities Engineer - Tools & Infrastructure is a key member of the MBSE Core Capabilities team, with primary responsibility for advancing the Tools and Infrastructure quad within the team's broader capability framework of Strategy, People, Processes, Tools, and Data. This role supports enterprise Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) adoption by enabling effective, scalable, and sustainable use of MBSE tools and related infrastructure across the sector.
This position requires deep expertise in Cameo/MagicDraw, knowledge of SysML v1.x and UAF, and the ability to work effectively with Information Technology Services (ITS) / Enterprise Support Services (ESS) and peer MBSE teams across sectors. The role also supports continued development of an internally released digital ecosystem data connector and contributes to broader MBSE team priorities in support of the organization's vision and mission.
The ideal candidate has technical excellence, is collaborative, proactive, and enthusiastic about organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, and enterprise capability building. They will also have a customer-service mindset in support of engineering teams and stakeholders, with the ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.
What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary contributor for the Tools and Infrastructure area within the MBSE Core Capabilities team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Cameo/MagicDraw, including tool use, configuration, support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Support MBSE tool environments that enable effective application of SysML v1.x and UAF.
  • Partner with Information Technology Services (ITS) / Enterprise Support Services (ESS)to support tool upgrades and deployment, infrastructure alignment, licensing, access, security, and operational needs.
  • Support continued development, sustainment, and improvement of an internally released digital ecosystem data connector.
  • Collaborate proactively with MBSE teams across sectors to identify needs, share best practices, and promote alignment of approaches.
  • Contribute to tool-related standards, workflows, guidance, and governance that improve consistency, usability, and quality.
  • Support organizational change management efforts that improve adoption of MBSE tools, methods, and connected ways of working.
  • Contribute to team communications, stakeholder engagement, and relationship building across strategic business units and strategic capabilities units.
  • Support additional MBSE Core Capabilities priorities, as needed, in service of the overall MBSE vision and mission.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Significant experience with Cameo/MagicDraw in an MBSE environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of SysML v1.x and UAF.
  • Experience supporting, improving, or administering MBSE tools and related infrastructure.
  • Experience working effectively with Information Technology Services (ITS) or equivalent IT organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, organizations, or sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and support of organizational change management and user adoption.
  • Ability to balance primary technical responsibilities with broader team and enterprise objectives.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with other systems architecture or modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with SysML v2.
  • Experience with the Cameo API.
  • Experience with the Jama API.
  • Experience with tool integration, digital connectors, or digital ecosystem interoperability.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or Java.
  • Experience supporting enterprise stakeholder communications and cross-organizational relationship building.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or a related technical field plus 4 years relevant experience.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
