Job description

We are seeking a Senior Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) Technical Architect to lead the technical design, development, and architectural integrity of our nationwide enterprise e-commerce platform. In this senior role, you will own complex server-side logic, architect critical third-party integrations, manage environments & releases and ensure a highly scalable, secure, and performant storefront for our Hearth & Fire specialty product lines.
Position Overview
  • Role: SFCC Technical architect - Salesforce Commerce Cloud
  • Location: Remote (US-based) or Hybrid (if near a headquarter office in Auburn Hills, Mi)
  • Focus: Technical leadership, backend architecture, complex API integrations, and core platform management & optimization
  • Environment: Commerce Cloud back-end subject matter expert and member of IT team collaborating with Commerce Cloud Front end developer, IT technical leads and business Sales & Marketing team

Key Responsibilities
  • Architectural Leadership: Lead the technical design and execution of scalable server-side solutions utilizing SFRA (Storefront Reference Architecture), controllers, and custom scripts to support heavy, highly configurable seasonal catalogs (e.g., custom fireplaces, stoves, heating elements). Evaluate & recommend 3rd party tools and back-end solutions supporting front end SFCC business applications
  • Complex System Integrations: Design, build, and maintain server-side scripts & enterprise-grade integrations/REST APIs to 3rd party services: Order Management Systems (Salesforce CRM), and ERP (Netsuite), Payment Processing (Stripe), Product configurator (Zoovu) and payloads to Mulesoft enterprise integration platform
  • Performance & Scalability Engineering: Diagnose production bottlenecks, analyze system logs, implement advanced caching strategies, and optimize backend performance to withstand high-volume seasonal spikes
  • Code Quality & Governance: Establish backend development standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and enforce security and data compliance best practices
  • Job & Schedule Management: Monitoring, debugging, and configuring backend jobs such as catalog imports, inventory updates etc)
  • Business Manager Configuration: configure Business Manager to support backend administration, managing promotion logic and configuring localized site preferences
  • Platform Maintenance: Keep platform current to version upgrades and
  • Collaborate: Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver new features, enhancement & defect fixes
  • Code Deployment Pipeline Management: Build and maintain clean CI/CD pipelines and standard deployment tools to push backend updates safely without disrupting storefront availabiity

Required Technical Skills
  • Platform Expertise: 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on backend development experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Advanced Architecture: Mastery of SFRA, MVC architectural patterns, object-oriented design, Service framework, jobs framework and headless commerce implementation
  • Languages & Tools: Expert-level proficiency in server-side JavaScript (Node.js) and tools like VS Code, Prophet Debugger, and Git version control
  • E-Commerce Extensions: Deep experience modifying, developing, and troubleshooting complex SFCC LINK cartridges & integration with 3rd party Apps (Stripe, Avalara, analytics & tagging platforms)
  • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD deployment pipelines, build tools, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure)

Qualifications & Leadership Attributes
  • Proven experience leading technical delivery for high-volume, enterprise e-commerce websites (experience with bulky goods, hardlines, or home improvement industries is a strong plus)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving critical, high-pressure production issues
  • Detail oriented with a focus on code quality and maintainability
  • Effective communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and balance enhancement, support, platform maintenance and delivery commitments
  • Strong ownership mindset with ability to develop and drive quality technical solutions through delivery
  • Certification: Salesforce Certified Commerce Cloud Digital Developer credential is highly preferred
