Job Description Summary

The primary role of this position is support of storeroom operations. This position is responsible for optimizing productivity and maintaining target quality and sanitation levels. Must have knowledge of plant safety; demonstrate good personal hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) assist in administering, directing, and sustaining these policies.
This position is responsible for the receipt, physical control and disbursement of all storeroom inventory materials and maintaining the inventory control system to ensure the optimum quantity of materials are available to support plant operations. Direct daily operating activities for receiving and storeroom personnel, consistent with established receiving and inventory control systems and procedures. Able to support the planning department when needed by running weekly KPI reports, writing basic job plans and scheduling work orders when needed.

Job Description

Include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.
  • Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material.
  • Fills orders or issues supplies from stock.
  • Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock.
  • Compiles reports on use of stock handling equipment, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusal of shipments.
  • Distributes stock among production workers, keeping records of material issued.
  • Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
  • Moves or transports material or supplies to other departments/plants. A driving course will be required before operating company vehicles.
  • Operate forklift to move heavy deliveries and equipment.
  • Maintains inventory and other stock records.
  • Ability to understand Lamb-Weston's paper-flow process is required. It also helps to be knowledgeable of plant machinery.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Tools and equipment used are as follows: computer terminal, calculator, telephone, and forklift.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. You will be exposed to the heat and cold, but not to unbearable extremes. Also, humidity, dust, fumes, vibration, and noise are minimal.
