Position Summary: The Director of Operations is responsible for management of people and processes related to insurance operations. This includes claims processing, enrollment, billing and ancillary operational functions. Along with responsibility for a broad set of operational duties the person in this position is expected to stay current with latest trends in insurance operations and apprise senior management of changes that present opportunities or threats as appropriate. This position requires effective and professional communication and presentation skills.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage and lead the performance of key operational areas and teams; Plans, allocates, and monitors workflows and performance to ensure the accurate and timely completion of assignments within established production, inventory, and quality standards and in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures
  • Oversee the execution of intricate operational projects ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making, demonstrating analytical and problem-solving prowess in dynamic environments
  • Monitor trends, identify process inefficiencies and anomalies, develop solutions, and implement changes to improve operational efficiency; Champion change initiatives, and convert challenges into opportunities for growth
  • Manage various vendor relationships for oversight and resolution of issues
  • Engage and proactively collaborate with other company departments and external entities such as key clients and the Delta Dental Plans Association on initiatives that impact areas of responsibility
  • Maintain the high level of performance as it relates to ranking among Delta Plans
  • Regularly acts as a subject matter expert for others within the Corporation regarding operational activities
  • Serves as a liaison for Operations to all departments within the company
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in general business or related degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in an insurance company environment
  • 8 – 10 years operational experience with complex regulated products and client base.
  • Demonstrated experience as a manager or in a direct leadership role
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize initiatives to ensure critical deadlines are met,
  • In-depth knowledge of key operational processes
  • Proven and effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all groups of people, including staff, peers and customers.
  • Proficient desktop computer skills, advanced Excel and data query skills
