Job description

The Director Operations is a strategic partner to the Assistant Vice President of Operations and other members of the Leadership team, leading day-to-day distribution center operations and driving operational excellence across inventory management, logistics, compliance and continuous improvement activities focused on food flow to our partners. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant operations that support CFBNJ’s strategic plan. You are passionate about the mission of CFBNJ and can enthusiastically translate this focus into an effort that effectively communicates and represents the many needs of the internal and external constituents and stakeholders supported by the CFBNJ Operations team.

What you’ll do in your role: 

  • Lead, coach, and develop distribution center managers and team members.
  • Oversee receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution operations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, OSHA, USDA, Feeding America, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational performance and accountability.
  • Maintain and improve SOPs, operational procedures, and workflow documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and service levels.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes and resolve operational challenges.
  • Optimize inventory flow and inbound/outbound distribution activities.
  • Support leadership development, employee performance, and team engagement.
  • Communicate operational risks, opportunities, and business needs to senior leadership.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale distribution, warehouse, or supply chain operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in food distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, procurement, logistics, and distribution operations.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and change management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build effective cross-functional partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Cold chain distribution experience preferred.

Pay Transparency: The salary range for this position is $86,250-$143,750 The final rate may be influenced by factors such as the position's scope and responsibilities, work experience, training, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
