Job Summary
The Manager on Duty (MOD) will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik's culture by consistently providing "best in class" service to our guests. The main responsibility of the MOD is to provide general assistance to the store in absence of a Store Director or Assistant Store Director. As a part of the Sendik's leadership team, the MOD must demonstrate accountability, strong team management skills and hands-on involvement, both on the floor and with the team.

Work Experience
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serve customers throughout the store while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
  • Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making suggestions and resolving complaints
  • Manage all areas of the store, consistently leading by example and applying effective management techniques
  • Maintain store conditions including, but not limited to, ensuring perishables are full and fresh, proper sanitation standards, weekly sales ad, pricing and overall organization and appearance of the store
  • Responsible for the opening and closing duties of the store in absence of a Store Director or Assistant Store Director
  • Daily communication with departments to assess daily needs and production schedule
  • Assist within the departments that have the greatest need for that day and report any staffing concerns to Store Director or Assistant Store Director
  • Delegate tasks and assist with training and coaching as needed
  • Assist with receiving and stocking daily deliveries as needed
  • Create attractive department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week
  • Assist with ordering and inventory per the direction of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director
  • Assist with store promotional sales events as needed
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates throughout the store
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
  • Assist with all other store duties as needed

Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of store equipment
  • Prior experience with food handling and cooking, preferably in a grocery setting, as well as leadership experience is required
  • Eagerness to interact with customers
  • Strong sense of team - ability to anticipate the needs of the team
  • Strong knowledge of local and state health, sanitation and safety regulations
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities and circumstances
  • Ability to maintain composure, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
