To thrive as a Store Designer, you need a strong background in interior design or architecture, spatial planning, and retail merchandising, usually demonstrated through relevant education and design experience. Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge of building codes and retail standards is often required. Creativity, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure that store environments are both visually engaging and functionally optimized for a successful retail experience.
Store Designers spend their days developing layout concepts, producing technical drawings, and collaborating closely with project managers, architects, and visual merchandisers to bring store environments to life. They often conduct site visits, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and ensure that all design elements align with brand standards and comply with local regulations. Balancing multiple projects, refining plans based on client or leadership feedback, and sourcing materials are also common tasks. This blend of creative and technical responsibilities allows Store Designers to see their vision realized from concept through to finished retail space.
A Store Designer is responsible for creating the layout, aesthetics, and visual merchandising of retail spaces to enhance customer experience and optimize sales. They collaborate with architects, marketing teams, and store planners to develop functional and appealing store designs that align with a brand’s identity. Their work includes selecting materials, fixtures, and color schemes while considering traffic flow and accessibility. Store Designers must balance creativity with practicality to ensure designs are both visually engaging and cost-effective.

ALO Architecture + Design is looking for an Architecture and Design 3D Visualization Associate to work with us on exciting new retail projects. ALO is home to a talented, close-knit team of design professionals that are passionate about producing excellent design, and we are seeking motivated architects and designers who are excited to grow with us! As a 3D Visualization Associate at ALO, you will assist the Architecture and Store Design Team on 3D modeling and developing retail store designs. ALO is growing fast and we are looking for an individual with an elevated aesthetic, excellent at what they do and who can thrive in a fast pacedenvironment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIREMENTS
The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company's total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
