Deli Manager The Deli Manager is responsible for leading the Deli Department to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction through exceptional service, quality, and presentation. This role oversees all aspects of deli operations, including food safety, sanitation, product quality, and team performance. The Deli Manager ensures a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment while driving sales and maintaining high standards in product variety and freshness.

This position also includes the daily supervision and training of deli staff, fostering a positive team culture, and stepping in as acting manager when needed to support overall store operations, including employee relations and coaching. Essential Functions: Understand and enforce all health, safety, and sanitation regulations; ensure all deli team members consistently follow these procedures. Promote customer satisfaction and foster customer loyalty through excellent service and quality products.

Schedule and receive food deliveries; checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity. Oversee food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure products meet company standards. Monitor departmental budgets and payroll; review financial transactions to ensure spending aligns with approved budgets.

Create staff schedules and assign daily duties to ensure efficient operations. Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and provide corrective action for deli clerks as needed. Maintain retail pricing strategies to support overall profit goals.

Keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation, and food subsidies when appropriate. Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to food quality, service, or other deli concerns. Manage inventory of food and equipment; maintain detailed inventory records.

Assist with food preparation or service tasks as needed, including cooking, clearing, and serving. Support the Store Manager as needed, including taking on-call responsibilities. Ensure consistent quality of deli products through proper rotation, damage checks, and adherence to all food safety protocols.

Plan menus and manage food utilization based on anticipated customer demand, taste, popularity, and cost-effectiveness. Perform other related duties as assigned.
