Department: Automation Design Center
Location: Westfield, IN
Employment Type: Full-Time

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Automated Solutions, the Solutions Engineer will assist in the design of automated material handling systems, helping customers meet their business goals. This position works with emerging technologies in the material handling field, such as robotics, mobile robotics, autonomous vehicles and automated storage\retrieval systems.


OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Concepting

  • Support the design of automated material handling systems that align with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the sales team members & Customers to evaluate the Customer needs and develop the best solution for the Customer
  • Visit Customer sites to understand customer environments and gather information needed for system designs.
  • Assist in research and analysis of industry trends to support the design of competitive, cutting-edge solutions.
  • Participate in internal brainstorming sessions to identify new ideas and solutions

Proposals

  • Assist in developing proposal documents, including material flow diagrams and system design concepts.
  • Help ensure that project timelines and deliverables are met, while learning how to manage priorities effectively.

Costing

  • Assist in the generation of cost estimates for proposed material handling integration projects.

Department

  • Participate in process improvement projects as required.

Tool Usage

  • Utilize AutoCAD, Sketchup, Configura and MS Suite to clearly communicate concepts.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic understanding of material handling systems and their components.
