Job description

Commercial Estimator – Countertops

Location: Rochester, NY | Pay: $60,000–$70,000/year | Full-Time

Bridge the Gap Between Blueprints and Budget

Are you someone who thrives on precision, project details, and making numbers make sense? We’re looking for a Commercial Estimator with strong construction knowledge and takeoff skills to help quote and win high-impact commercial projects.

This role plays a vital part in how we forecast revenue and grow our presence in large-scale construction — from hospitals to hotels to multifamily builds. If you’re organized, analytical, and experienced in commercial estimating, you’ll find a solid home here.

What You’ll Do:

  • Review architectural blueprints and specs to calculate material needs (stone, solid surface, laminate)
  • Perform accurate take-offs and generate cost estimates for materials, labor, fabrication, and delivery
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and submit on time
  • Follow up on open bids and stay proactive with customer communication
  • Assist with forecasting and revenue pipeline tracking
  • Solicit vendor pricing and evaluate subcontractor quotes
  • Identify risks such as layout constraints or potential material waste
  • Conduct occasional site visits to confirm measurements or physical conditions

What You Bring:

  • 2–5 years of experience in construction estimating, millwork, or related trades
  • Proficiency with estimating tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, 2020 Design)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, finish schedules, and unit matrices
  • Knowledge of commercial countertop materials and fabrication methods
  • Clear, professional communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • A proactive mindset and excellent attention to detail

Education & Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with AWI standards and general commercial construction practices

Why This Role Matters:

As a Commercial Estimator, you directly impact how we grow. You’re not just bidding jobs — you’re building relationships, forecasting revenue, and ensuring our teams are aligned with real numbers and timelines. Your work helps our shop stay busy and our install teams stay focused.

What Makes This Opportunity Stand Out:

  • Join a respected regional leader in commercial countertop fabrication
  • Work with a forward-thinking team in a supportive, growth-minded environment
  • Play a key role in expanding our commercial footprint
  • Be part of a company culture rooted in trust, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
