Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team at Black Stone Diagnostic and Counseling Center. This full-time role allows you to provide essential mental health services to children and adolescents, focusing on concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the mental well-being of our young patients through remote telehealth services.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a professional setting that prioritizes effective communication and patient engagement. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the needs and challenges facing children and adolescents.
  • Design and implement tailored treatment plans that take into account the developmental stage of the patient as well as familial influences.
  • Use evidence-based therapeutic techniques to provide individual and family therapy, helping clients navigate their mental health journeys.
  • Facilitate family therapy sessions, aimed at empowering parents and caregivers to support their children's emotional health.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including child psychiatrists, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to support young individuals during acute mental health emergencies.
  • Educate families on mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources that can support their journey.
  • Maintain precise and confidential patient records in compliance with all relevant laws and ethical guidelines.
  • Engage regularly in team meetings, case discussions, and ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge base.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in the field of child and adolescent mental health to improve therapeutic effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with children and adolescents facing a variety of mental health challenges. This role allows you to support young patients dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and ADHD. Understanding their unique emotional landscapes and developmental needs is essential in providing the best care possible.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience working in a mental health setting, preferably with children and adolescents.
  • Strong familiarity with child and adolescent mental health disorders and proven therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience providing both individual and family therapy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on building relationships with young clients and their families.
  • Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems and comfortable using technology in a counseling context.
  • A collaborative mindset, demonstrating the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team atmosphere.
Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on experience in utilizing evidence-based practices specifically tailored to treat child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Prior experience working in a telehealth setting is advantageous, given our remote operational model.
  • Familiarity with local mental health resources and community organizations that support families in need.
Compensation and Benefits
