Job description

Production Controller- Salary Range 55K-75K Based on Experience

Frequency Electronics, Inc is seeking a Production Controller to support manufacturing operations for both space flight hardware and commercial product lines. This position is responsible for controlling the release, movement, and status of shop orders to ensure hardware progresses through manufacturing in accordance with program schedules and delivery requirements. The role requires daily use of Infor VISUAL ERP (9D), Microsoft Project and advanced Excel tools to track WIP, shortages, and production status in a high-mix, low volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Control and maintain shop orders and travelers in Infor VISUAL
  • Monitor WIP and move orders through manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate hardware movement between departments (assembly, test, environmental screening, inspection, shipping.
  • Track work order status and ensure completion of required operations.
  • Identify and escalate shortages, bottlenecks, and schedule risks.
  • Coordinate priorities with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Material Control, and Program Management,
  • Support environmental test scheduling (TVAC, vibration, burn-in, ESS)
  • Ensure required documentation and configuration are correct before hardware moves forward
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders into active work orders as directed
  • Support both flight hardware and commercial production requirements.

Systems & Reporting

  • Daily use of Infor Visual 9 AD ERP for order status, transactions, and tracking
  • Maintain Project and Excel-based reports for WIP status, shortages, and delivery performance
  • Use advanced Excel functions (PivotTables, formulas, data analysis tools)

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in production control, manufacturing coordination, or shop floor control
  • Aerospace/defense or high-reliability electronics experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of WIP control and manufacturing processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Infor VISUAL ERP experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and changing priorities

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in low-volume, high reliability hardware production preferred
  • Familiarity with configuration control and traceability requirements.
  • U.S Person status required due to ITAR restrictions Work Environment:
  • This position supports both :
    - Space/satellite flight hardware with strict documentation and testing requirements
    - Commercial production with shorter lead times and higher throughput

      In addition, we operate on a 9/80 work schedule, which gives employees every other Friday off. This schedule includes longer workdays-9 hours and 45 minutes with a mandatory 45-minute lunch break. One week consists of four workdays (36 hours), and the following week includes five workdays (45 hours). Despite this variation, employees are paid for a consistent 40-hour workweek, with weekly pay.
