Job description

Assistant Superintendent – Multifamily Construction

Build More Than Apartments. Build Your Career.

Stoa Group is hiring an Assistant Superintendent to join the field team building The Waters at Crosspointe, a 336-unit, ground-up multifamily community in Columbia, South Carolina.

This isn't a general labor or assistant role. You'll own critical phases of construction, work alongside experienced field leaders, and develop the skills needed to become a Superintendent.

As part of Stoa Group, you'll join one of the nation's Top Employers in Multifamily and a company recognized for putting people first. Because we develop, build, and operate our own communities, our teams see projects from the ground up and enjoy long-term stability with a strong pipeline of future work.

What You'll Do

As an Assistant Superintendent, you'll be responsible for the successful execution of assigned phases of construction, with primary ownership from drywall through turnover, including exterior painting and landscaping.

You'll work closely with the Superintendent and Lead Superintendent to ensure every building is delivered safely, on schedule, and to Stoa's quality standards.

Your responsibilities include:

Safety

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices throughout assigned work areas.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.

Quality

  • Own quality throughout assigned construction phases.
  • Complete Procore phase inspections.
  • Create, coordinate, and close observations in Procore.
  • Verify work meets plans, specifications, and Stoa quality standards.
  • Understand and reference drawings, specifications, submittals, and scopes of work.

Schedule Execution

  • Execute scheduled work within assigned buildings.
  • Coordinate finishing trades to keep projects moving.
  • Identify potential delays and communicate solutions early.

Field Coordination

  • Coordinate subcontractors during assigned phases.
  • Receive and organize materials and deliveries.
  • Manage site logistics and hired labor as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining daily production goals.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate daily logs.
  • Document deliveries, manpower, jobsite progress, and project activities in Procore.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in multifamily, commercial, or residential construction
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and jobsite activities
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety practices
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction software preferred
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Willingness to travel to projects within the Gulf Coast Region

Our Construction Values

Our field teams operate around three core principles:

Quality – Do it right the first time.

Schedule – Execution, not excuses.

Relationships – Do what you say you're going to do.

If these values describe how you work, you'll fit in well at Stoa.

Why Stoa?

At Stoa Construction, we believe great projects are built by great people.

We invest heavily in our employees by providing the support, technology, and career development needed to succeed.

Our benefits include:

  • Competitive compensation
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employees
  • Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays
  • Employee Rental Discount
  • Professional Development Opportunities
  • Clear career path from Assistant Superintendent to Superintendent and beyond
