Stna Contract information

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an STNA working on a contract basis?

As a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) working on a contract, you can expect to assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility. Contract STNAs often work at multiple facilities or are assigned to fill staffing gaps, so adaptability and strong communication skills are important. Responsibilities may also include monitoring vital signs, reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff, and ensuring a clean, safe patient environment. The workflow can vary by assignment, but teamwork with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals is a constant aspect of the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an STNA on contract, and why are they important?

To thrive as an STNA on contract, you need a valid STNA certification, foundational knowledge of patient care, and basic nursing skills. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), mobility aids, and infection control protocols is typically required. Strong communication, reliability, and empathy set exceptional STNAs apart in providing quality care. These skills ensure the effective delivery of patient support, safety, and adaptability in various healthcare environments.

What is an STNA contract?

An STNA contract is a work agreement for a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) to provide nursing care services on a temporary or contractual basis, rather than as a permanent employee. These contracts are often used in healthcare facilities like nursing homes, hospitals, or long-term care centers to fill staffing gaps. STNA contract workers perform the same duties as regular STNAs, such as assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining patient hygiene. The main difference is that the terms of employment, such as duration, pay rate, and work hours, are defined by the specific contract.
