Job Posting: Technology Club Advisor 

Location: Cooperstown Junior/Senior High School
Reports To: Director of Physical Education, Athletics & Extracurricular Activities- Josh Wagner 

 
Overview: 

Cooperstown Junior/Senior High School is seeking a hands-on, innovative, and student-centered Technology Club Advisor to lead weekly club meetings and supervise a wide range of creative and technical student projects. Open to students in grades 7-12, the Technology Club offers a unique space for exploration beyond the classroom, encouraging experimentation, problem-solving, and project-based learning in areas such as wood and metal working, CAD, 3D printing, graphic design, and welding.

 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Facilitate weekly club meetings with a focus on safety, creativity, and skill development.

  • Oversee and guide students in hands-on activities including:

     
    • Woodworking and metalworking

    • Oxygen and acetylene welding

    • Graphic and t-shirt design/production

    • Vinyl sticker design

    • Car design/computer simulation

    • Architectural drawing, CAD, and 3D printing

  • Support and mentor students who wish to specialize in a single technological process or develop depth in a particular area.

  • Encourage teamwork, innovation, and safe use of all tools and machinery.

  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and inclusive workshop environment for students of all skill levels.

 
Qualifications:  Required: 
  • Experience in technology education, industrial arts, engineering, or related fields.

  • Proficiency with tools, equipment, and software used in areas such as woodworking, welding, CAD, and 3D printing.

  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students.

  • Ability to manage materials, equipment, and time effectively in a club setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills for working with students in grades 7-12.

  Preferred: 
  • NYS certification in Technology Education or a related discipline.

  • Prior experience in extracurricular supervision or project-based learning.

  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Adobe Illustrator, or CorelDRAW.

  • Knowledge of school safety procedures related to shop and lab environments.
