Overview:

The Quality Manager II will plan, organize, and implement the MasTec Industrial Quality Program during the execution of construction projects. The Quality Manager II will be responsible for managing the Quality on-boarding process, contributing to developing of site-specific ITPs, overseeing the organization and turnover of all quality documentation required for progressive turnover, and management of all discipline inspectors hired for the project.ย  The Quality Manager II may be required to perform certain site inspections as necessary.

Location & Travel Details: You can be based in any city or state in the U.S.. This is a traveling, project based position, up to 90% of the time.ย You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US.ย Youโ€™ll spend 8-18 months on average per project. We offer designated per diem in addition to an excellent base salary to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for mobilization support (may include mileage reimbursement), and includes one longer weekend every four weeks for additional time at home. A company vehicle and fuel card OR vehicle allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in constructability reviews and task planning.
  • Successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
  • Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors or other employees regarding quality and proper work practices, evaluate that information and implement a plan based on that evaluation for carrying out the duties of this position.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Be a champion of MasTec Industrialโ€™s culture and values by setting exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of the companyโ€™s resources functioning as a team player and helping to maintain good communication across the company.
  • Represent MasTec Industrial in a professional manner in all client interaction activities.
  • Provide the client with contract required reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, nonconformance, etc.)
  • Understand and implement MasTec Industrialโ€™s Corporate Quality Manual and assist with efforts in developing site-specific quality plans.
  • Identify needs for implementing ITPโ€™s (Inspection and Test Plans) and coordinate with Sr Quality management in development of ITPs
  • Support or lead quality training meetings, onboardings and sessions.
  • Support craft superintendent with site specific quality consumables (electrodes, welding lens, etc.)
  • Support and lead additional quality practices including, but not limited to, Quality audits, Craft observations, and Quality Leadership Team Meetings (QLTs)
  • Ensure Quality metrics are compiled and submitted weekly (e.g., repair rates, Nonconformance metrics, testing metrics)
  • Participate in stretch /flex and morning gang box meetings
  • Report nonconforming and rework events and participate in Incident Investigation and Corrective Action
  • Ensure subcontractor kickoff meetings are being held for each activity onsite to discuss Quality requirements, inspection activities, and any contract or MasTec Industrial specified hold points
  • Track timely closure of non-conformances and observations
  • Implement and promote stop work authority with employees, including for all stop work of Quality related events
  • Function as one of the key Project Leaders on the project
  • Conduct and lead meetings, both internally and externally in a professional manner
  • Provide on the job training to Quality managers, Quality Inspectors, and Operations personnel
  • Ensure implementation of project employee training programs
  • Manage direct reports as applicable, including Quality Inspectors, Administrative personnel, and site Survey teams

SUPERVISORY:

  • Participate in the reviewing and staffing of site Quality personnel
  • Develop and mentor site personnel, including training and leadership to promote internal career growth
  • Perpetuate and foster culture and retention of Quality teams
  • Lead and conduct meetings with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with other leaders within the organization and project teams towards goals of continuous improvement
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of seven years of quality experience in construction or operations with exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil/gas, industrial, and welding activities
  • Must have extensive working knowledge and be able to proficiently navigate and interpret the following codes: ASME codes i.e., B31.1, B31.3, ASME Section 1, 5, VIII Div. 1 etc., IX, AWS codes i.e., D1.1, D1.3, D1.6, AISC, ASNT, NEC, NFPA, NBIC and ACI regulations.
  • AWS CWI required. Alternate certifications may be considered
  • Ability to work with Project Quality Sponsors to execute Code work utilizing Mastecโ€™s ASME Code Stamps i.e., โ€œS, U, R, NBโ€ Code Stamps. He/She will have to work within Code Boundaries and the AIA โ€“ HSBCT.
  • Prior proven experience leading projects and teams in an Industrial setting
  • Extreme proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and Power Point
  • Demonstrated experience with construction management software platforms
  • Proven capabilities with Bluebeam Revu
  • Preferred experience with Smartsheet and InEight software

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document quality related issues and activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with the owner, ownerโ€™s representative, and the Companyโ€™s site supervision, in order to facilitate the quality objectives
  • Work independently and productively, ensuring the resources assigned to the project are adequate and properly trained for the task
  • Be self-motivated and capable of taking initiative
  • Apply critical thinking skills to establish effective corrective actions for causal factors of quality incidents
  • Possess diplomatic skills for addressing Quality and Safety issues with both internal and external parties
