G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center – Jackson, MS

Lead Surgical Excellence for America’s Veterans!

Are you a passionate physician leader who thrives in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments? The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is seeking an inspirational executive for the position of Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS), Perioperative Service. Step into a key role where you will drive the future of surgical care for those who have served our nation.


Position Highlights:

  • Visionary Leadership: Provide executive oversight and direction for all clinical and administrative activities within the Perioperative Service, ensuring the highest quality, safest, and most efficient surgical and procedural care for Veterans.
  • Comprehensive Operational Management: Direct perioperative functions from Pre-operative Evaluation through Day-of-Surgery Admissions, to the Operating Rooms, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and related procedural areas.
  • Policy & Process Development: Develop, implement, and maintain robust policies, procedures, and clinical pathways—guaranteeing regulatory compliance and best practices as defined by VHA directives, facility bylaws, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Collaborative Approach: Work seamlessly with Chiefs of Surgery, Anesthesiology, Nursing leadership, Sterile Processing, Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory, Logistics, and other facility services to deliver integrated, veteran-centered perioperative care.
  • Team Builder: Recruit, select, and retain top perioperative clinicians and staff; nurture a culture of excellence and patient focus.
  • Resource Stewardship: Manage OR time, personnel, equipment, and supplies—with an eye toward efficiency, safety, and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Executive Authority: Exercise clinical and administrative oversight under VHA policy and facility bylaws, with delegated authority from the Chief of Staff.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
(with call coverage as needed)
