Job description

A Used Car Buyer is responsible for sourcing, inspecting, and purchasing pre-owned vehicles to maintain a profitable and appealing dealership inventory. They evaluate market demand, appraise vehicle conditions, and negotiate purchase prices with private sellers, wholesalers, and at auctions.

Core Responsibilities
  • Inventory Sourcing: Prospect and identify viable vehicles through private sellers, customer trade-ins, fleet auctions, and wholesalers.ย 
  • Vehicle Appraisal: Perform thorough physical and mechanical inspections, review vehicle history reports (e.g., Carfax), and estimate reconditioning costs.ย 
  • Negotiation & Closing: Present offers and negotiate terms with sellers to ensure the dealershipโ€™s gross profit margins are met.ย 
  • Administrative Management: Ensure all required legal documentation (e.g., titles, bills of sale) and auction paperwork are completed accurately.
