STERLING PROCESS EQUIPMENT  

 PROJECT COORDINATOR / JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking a motivated Project Coordinator / Junior Project Manager to support our Project Management team in the execution of process system projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, a technical aptitude, and a desire to build a career in project management within the food, beverage, dairy, and process industries.

Working closely with senior Project Managers, Engineering, Fabrication, and Field Operations, you will assist with project planning, documentation, scheduling, customer communication, and project execution activities from project kickoff through commissioning.

This position is designed as a developmental role within Sterling's Project Management organization. Successful individuals will have the opportunity to take on increasing project responsibilities and advance into a Project Manager position as their experience and capabilities grow.

THE PERSON 

Our ideal Project Coordinator / Junior Project Manager is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. They enjoy solving problems, working with people, and helping keep projects on track. They are comfortable managing multiple priorities, communicating with internal teams and customers, and following established processes and procedures.

The successful candidate is dependable, adaptable, and proactive. They are willing to ask questions, learn from experienced team members, and take initiative when opportunities arise. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment are essential.

This role provides significant exposure to engineering, fabrication, installation, and project management activities while offering opportunities for professional growth and advancement within Sterling.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The job responsibilities of this Project Manager position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Project Managers with project planning, execution, and delivery
  • Help develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation
  • Track project milestones, action items, and deliverables
  • Coordinate communication between customers, project managers, engineering, fabrication, and field personnel
  • Attend customer meetings and prepare meeting notes and follow-up items
  • Assist with scope of work development and project documentation
  • Support material procurement and delivery coordination
  • Maintain project files, reports, timesheets, and project records
  • Conduct site visits to document field conditions and gather project information
  • Assist with project reporting and status updates
  • Support change order documentation and tracking
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and project logistics
  • Assist with commissioning, startup preparation, and project closeout activities
  • Promote and support safety and quality standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures
  • Develop customer relationships through professional communication and responsiveness
  • Support estimating and engineering teams during project development and execution


QUALIFICATIONS 

Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in project coordination, project management support, engineering, manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or a related field
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related discipline preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites

Preferred

  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or industrial processing environments
  • Exposure to project management principles, scheduling, or project documentation
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and CRM software
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Understanding of process equipment, piping systems, or industrial construction is a plus
