Job description

12V Electrical Technician – Wrecker & Emergency Vehicle Upfitting

New England Wrecker Sales

Build the Trucks That Keep New England Running.

Not every wiring job is the same.

At New England Wrecker Sales, you'll build custom wreckers, carriers, and emergency response vehicles that work in some of the toughest conditions on the road. Every truck that leaves our shop is purpose-built, professionally wired, and trusted by towing companies, municipalities, contractors, and emergency responders throughout New England.

If you're the kind of technician who takes pride in clean wiring, organized installs, and getting it right the first time, you'll fit right in.

We're growing, investing in our people, and looking for another skilled 12V Electrical Technician to join our team.

What You'll Earn
  • $25–$40 per hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time, year-round position
  • Monday–Friday schedule
  • No nights. No weekends.
  • Overtime opportunities available after training

What You'll Be Building

This isn't repetitive assembly-line work.

Every build is different, giving you the opportunity to work on custom heavy-duty wreckers, rollback carriers, service trucks, and specialty commercial vehicles.

You'll install and integrate:

  • LED warning and emergency lighting systems
  • 12V electrical systems and custom wiring harnesses
  • Brake controllers
  • Switch panels and control systems
  • Auxiliary lighting and work lights
  • Backup cameras
  • Power accessories and aftermarket equipment
  • Truck body electrical components

You'll help transform a bare chassis into a finished truck that's ready to go to work.

What You'll Do
  • Install and wire 12V electrical systems on new commercial truck builds
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings
  • Route, terminate, and protect wiring for clean, reliable installations
  • Install lighting, controllers, accessories, and truck body electrical components
  • Fabricate and install mounting brackets using hand and power tools
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues as needed
  • Test systems to ensure every component functions properly before delivery
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Take pride in delivering a finished product that exceeds customer expectations

What Makes You a Great Fit

We're less concerned about where you learned your skills and more interested in what you can do.

Experience in any of these backgrounds translates well:

  • Automotive electrical repair
  • 12V vehicle wiring
  • Car audio or stereo installation
  • Emergency vehicle upfitting
  • Fleet maintenance
  • Heavy equipment wiring
  • RV or marine electrical systems
  • Coachbuilding or truck equipment installation
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience working with 12V electrical systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and dependable work ethic

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with diesel truck electrical systems
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of multiplex or CAN bus systems
  • Previous experience building wreckers, utility bodies, or emergency vehicles
