Description:

Location: Thomas Dierckman Boys and Girls Club

Schedule: Monday-Friday 2pm-7pm

Status: Part-time

Classification: Non-exempt


The STEM Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Site Director. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and delivering engaging, age-appropriate STEM programs at school sites. The focus is on creating exciting opportunities for youth to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through a variety of activities, both during after school hours and throughout summer programming.

ยท Curriculum Development: Maintain and develop consistent, comprehensive curriculum in STEM education that aligns with

youth development principles.

ยท Program Planning and Execution: Plan, promote, and execute technology/STEM activities, including STEMfinity, during

afterschool and summer hours.

ยท Youth Engagement: Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that increase youth attendance and

participation.

ยท Technology Resource Management: Maintain and use Club technology resources daily to support program activities.

ยท Training and Professional Development: Participate in BGCA national programs

and trainings (e.g., My Future, Career Launch, Digital Arts Festival, coding programs) as needed.

ยท Record Keeping: Responsible for proper record-keeping and reporting related to program activities and attendance.

ยท STEM Camps and Themes: Develop and implement engaging STEM-related science themes or camps.

ยท Program Development: Create locally focused STEM programs that encourage youth participation and ensure that multiple projects are managed effectively.

ยท Recruitment: Actively recruit Club members for STEM activities and programs each day.

ยท Safe Environment: Ensure a safe and clean environment that is conducive to youth development and learning.

ยท Guidance and Discipline: Provide guidance to Club members and enforce appropriate behavior and discipline.

ยท Equipment Management: Maintain and care for applicable STEM-related supplies and equipment.

ยท Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the School Sites Manager

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Group leadership skills, with an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Active, approachable, and available to youth.
  • Experience working with school-age youth in a group setting.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Certifications: Proof of CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to complete certification once hired
  • Background check, TB & drug test clearance required.
  • Must be able to lift more than 20 lbs., bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods.
