The Department includes a fully online PhD program in Education, both credential and master's degree programs in elementary education, secondary education, special education, and a fully online Master's of Education program for experienced K-12 teachers. The Department of Learning and Teaching and USD have a strong commitment to inclusive excellence and to globalย education. Faculty candidates should be committed to working with diverse students and populations as well as an interest in fostering community engagement at the local, national, and global levels. Detailed Description:

The School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) at the University of San Diego invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in STEM Education. The University of San Diego seeks faculty with expertise in STEM education to advance educational equity and social justice, across early childhood, K-12, and higher education. Faculty with expertise in STEM Education strengthen the university's capacity to secure external funding, expand community partnerships, and develop innovative, culturally responsive programs.

The successful candidate will be a scholar-practitioner committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, with a demonstrated ability to prepare educators to meet the needs of diverse learners. This individual will serve as a lead for STEM education-related curriculum development within the Department of Learning and Teaching, provide leadership in the Single Subject program, and report to the Chair and Associate Chair of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

ย  ย Teach undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses in STEM across early childhood, K-ย  ย  ย  ย 12, and higher education contexts

ย ย  Serve as lead for the Single Subjects 7th-12th programs

ย  ย Integrate equity-centered, culturally responsive, and critical pedagogies into teaching andย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย curriculum design

ย  ย Develop and maintain an active, sustainable research agenda addressing inclusive educationย  ย  ย  ย  ย in STEM

ย  ย Pursue external funding to support research, program development, and communityย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย partnerships

ย  ย Mentor and advise credential candidates, master's students, and doctoral students, fosteringย  ย  ย  ย  ย academic success, professional growth, and well-being

ย  ย Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement innovative curricula, programs, andย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย pathways that advance inclusive excellence

ย  ย Engage in service at the department, school, and university levels

Job Requirements:

Academic Credentials:

ย  Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education, STEM/STEM Education from an accredited institution (ABDย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย candidates may be considered with evidence of degree completion prior to appointment).

Teaching Credentials and Experience:

ย  Valid K-12 teaching credential (preferably in California)

ย  Demonstrated STEM K-12 classroom teaching experience

ย  Experience teaching online and in-person in higher education settings

ย  Demonstrated experience implementing culturally sustaining, trauma-informed, and inclusiveย  ย  ย  ย  instructional practices STEM classrooms.

ย  Proven ability to create equitable and inclusive learning environments that honor students'ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  whole selves including their cultural identities, abilities, and diverse lived experiences.

Research and Scholarship:

ย ย  Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity in STEM education

ย ย  Evidence of potential for continued publication in peer-reviewed outlets

ย  ย Curriculum and Program Expertise

ย  ย Experience developing STEM curricula, inclusive pedagogies, mentoring frameworks, orย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย pipeline programs.

Communication, Leadership, and Mentorship:

ย ย  Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and mentorship skills

ย  ย Demonstrated leadership abilities within academic or professional settings

ย  ย Capacity to contribute to institutional governance and shared leadership

ย Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with historically underrepresented or marginalized communities in STEM particularly in science and mathematics

ย  Experience advocating for equity and access for marginalized learners within STEM

ย  Record of professional leadership in organizations or initiatives promoting equity, studentย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  wellness, and social justice

ย  Commitment to culturally responsive, evidence-based, and equity-centered pedagogy

ย  Demonstrated interest in and/or record of securing external grants for research, programย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  development, or community initiatives.

Posting Salary:

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.ย  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
