Summary/Objective:

We are seeking a Senior Tekla Detailer to join our team and play a key role in producing high-quality structural steel fabrication drawings. This position requires a strong understanding of fabrication and construction processes, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and fabricators. In this senior-level role, you will help lead projects and give direction to junior detailers.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead Tekla modelling and detailing for complex projects, define standards, and ensure deliverables meet fabrication and erection requirements with minimal oversight
  • Own larger scopes of fabrication projects, develop detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures
  • Interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design intent
  • Resolve complex connections and clashes, performing QA/QC final checks
  • Produce shop drawings, erection drawings, BOMs and NC files, and material take-offs
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, junior detailers, and fabrication shop personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Estimate efforts and support client communications when necessary
  • Review and check drawings for quality, completeness, and compliance with project standards
  • Manage revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist in resolving design and fabrication issues

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Tekla Detailer (structural steel) with leadership experience
  • Ability to work independently while leading projects for the detailing team
  • Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures
  • Strong knowledge of AISC codes, engineering judgement, and relevant industry standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Experience with clash detection and coordination
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Tekla Detailer (structural steel) and experience as a team lead
  • Experience working with fabrication shops or on-site construction teams
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and integration

Work Environment:

  • Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
  • Position may require visits to construction site
  • Flexible work arrangements (if applicable)

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machine
