Job description

Description:

Heidtman Tubular Products, a Heidtman Steel company, is seeking a dedicated, experienced Tube Mill Operator to join our team in Erie, MI. We are looking for individuals who are committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in our production processes. Openings on 2nd shift - production hours 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM.

Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the tube mill is greased as preventative maintenance requires
  • Ensure micrometers are calibrated at the start of the day and at changeovers
  • Ensure efficiency and run rates are consistently met
  • Ensure a quality product is produced
  • Take an active lead during changeovers, breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime
  • Ability to set up and operate the mill independently
  • Effectively communicate with others on the line to meet quality and operation standards
  • Fill out all operating reports and quality reports as required
  • Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance for correction
  • Assist maintenance in making repairs
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years’ experience operating Tube Mill – independently can set up and operate Tube Mill
  • Technical experience with outside diameter tube coating is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to address production challenges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to read measuring devices/equipment
  • Forklift/Overhead crane experience, (preferred)
  • High School Diploma/GED (preferred, not required)
