Job description

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) is a division of AMETEK, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. The Specialty Metal Products division includes seven successful businesses with operating facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, and Malaysia.
With a strong focus on safety, the AMETEK Hamilton Precision Metals plant in Lancaster, PA custom re-rolls precision metal strip and foil, including titanium, nickel and nickel-based alloys, stainless steel and super alloys with applications in medical, aerospace, electronics, and process control. We are seeking a safety-conscious, action-oriented Rolling Mill Operator to join our team.
Essential Functions:
  • Operates a cold strip rolling mill to reduce strip metal to specified thickness and physical properties, often
    holding to very fine tolerances approaching the ultimate of the mill's capability.
  • Positions material, frequently new and untried alloys, in rolling mill, adjust rolls and guides according to size
    and dimensions. Establish general processing techniques for new materials. Adjust controls to regulate flow of
    lubricant, machine speed, machine pressure, etc.
  • Observe setup and gages and measurement devices to assure the processing of quality material.
  • Setup equipment and change rolls.
  • Periodically changes saddles and 2nd inte1mediates. Keeps accurate and organized rolling logs. Keeps mill
    and mill area clean and orderly.
  • May be asked to participate in continuous improvement activities, individually or as a team member. Actively seeks
    to continuously improve standard work techniques or processes leading to, but not limited to decreasing lead
    time, improve quality, decreasing set-up time and/or processing time to reduce costs and expand business.
  • Performs routine set-up and process adjustments inherent to the production process and monitors the product
    quality by visual observation and review of process data in accordance with meeting customer specifications.
  • Abide by all plant safety rules and procedures. Immediately report any unsafe conditions, acts, near misses, and injuries.
    Properly wear and care for all Personal Protective Equipment. Communicate and submit ideas for any safety issues.
    May be asked to participate on Safety Teams.
  • This description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other occasional work assignments

    Mill Operator.

Qualifications:
  • Requirements for an applicant to qualify include a high school education or equivalent and a high degree of
    mechanical and mathematical ability. Must have the dexterity and the ability to operate equipment and to learn how
    to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
