Job description

Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pnuematics and cooling systems.
What you will do

  • Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pneumatics and cooling systems. • Installs, maintains, adjusts, modifies heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment. • Maintains and repairs refrigerating/power plant equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. • Makes repairs and adjustments as required and in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and operation manuals. • Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics and specifications; estimate time and material requirements. • Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections of machines/equipment. • Replaces worn and defective parts on equipment. Maintains proper water conditioning boilers and cleans boilers and other equipment. • Moves equipment, materials and supplies as needed. • Lubricates compressors, motors, generators and other moving mechanisms.
  • Reviews work orders, priority status, designated time schedules and performs required assignments.
  • Works effectively as a team member within department and with customers to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration. • Interacts and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. • Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to ensure department meets workload demands. • Communicates effectively and follows-up with engineering and other hospital personnel regarding work orders and inspection/repair activities. • Answers dispatched calls and responds to emergency alarm/ communication systems accordingly.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies).
  • Maintains required department records, reports and files including safety inspections and repair records. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control and patient safety.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and personnel. • Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department tools and equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. • Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including, department specific requirements.
  • Provides coverage for relief and absences. Demonstrates flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays to provide continuous coverage as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent Required and
  • Completion of a steam/refrigeration program Required
  • First Class Steam and Refrigeration License Required
  • Minimum 3 years experience Thirty-six (36) months HVAC experience or related skilled crafts or trade or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Required
