Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a strong functional leader with experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead and Cost Account Manager (CAM). This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

IPT Leads at Northrop Grumman are responsible for leading an integrated team (e.g., mechanical, electrical, firmware, integration and test, manufacturing, GSC and more) to deliver a technically compliant product to the next higher level of integration within cost and schedule requirements. In many cases, these IPT Leads are also the CAMs for their products and support the Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

This functional leader will work with business areas and program managers to understand current and future needs and with their group members to help them develop and be successful in their IPT Lead roles. Ultimately, maintaining a laser focus on program performance and people development.

This position is an onsite dual role, and as such, will require a split as an individual contributor and a manager.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute in a direct contributor capacity by supporting business area program(s) in a part-time technical or leadership role.
  • Lead an engineering functional group of approximately 10 to 15 engineers of varying experience levels, including performance management, career development, staffing, job assignment management/prioritization, new employee onboarding, employee mentoring and development, employee engagement and merit planning.
  • Work with an Engineering Execution group and program management to understand current and future IPT Lead / CAM program staffing needs.
  • Maintain awareness of each group member's project responsibilities and performance, provide guidance, and help them to identify resources needed to overcome obstacles and meet project objectives.
  • Ensure application of all applicable processes in the group.
  • Review proposal content and BOEs, as well as review Comprehensive Estimate at Complete (CEAC) inputs.
  • Collaborate with section and peer functional managers in the business area on IPT Lead / CAM staffing, role standards/training/tools/templates, development opportunities, IPT Lead pipeline, and mentors/mentees.

This role is contingent upon candidates having a current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance and be able to obtain approval for special program access.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or STEM-related discipline, plus 9 years of experience or a master's degree plus 7 years of experience in engineering, and/or engineering program/project management.
  • U.S. Citizenship and a current/active Secret Clearance and be able to obtain approval for special program access.
  • Demonstrated success in a project leadership role as an IPT Lead or program manager leading a team of 10 or more engineers.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) supporting the Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Working knowledge of risk and opportunity management
  • Familiarity with organizational processes, roles, tools and facilities related to hardware design, development, test and/or production and/or production test design at the NGMS BWI facility.
  • Experience supporting proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
  • Experience briefing NG customers and executive management.
  • Available onsite at the BWI facility during first shift

Preferred Qualification:

  • Demonstrated success leading large high-performing teams as an IPT Lead and CAM through design, development and/or transition to production at NGMS BWI.
  • Strong working knowledge of the factory and engineering/production test.
  • Experience with the Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA) process
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Experience managing products in the critical path of a program
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Active and current Top Secret government clearance a plus
Primary Level Salary Range: $153,800.00 - $230,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
