The Engineering & Sciences organization supporting the Advanced Navigators business area at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Hardware & Digital Engineering Cost Account Manager (CAM) lead based out of Woodland Hills, CA.
The Hardware & Firmware CAM Lead is responsible for planning, budgeting, executing and progress reporting for a large team of engineers. The primary goal is the development for the latest M-code capable embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI-M). The HW/FW CAM ensures the integrity of engineering processes, and timely development of hardware and digital engineering work products to allow airworthiness certification. The HW/FW IPT Lead will have Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibility, which comprises cost and schedule management for the HW/FW work scope. The HW/FW CAM Lead interfaces with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, System Architect, other engineering team leads, as well as the customer.
What You'll get to Do:
  • Serve as the cost account manager for the hardware and firmware engineering responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the hardware and firmware functions for the EGI-M program
  • Setup and conduct regular team meetings for task coordination and performance evaluation
  • Identify and mitigate execution risks to hardware (including chassis, printed circuit boards, digital circuits), and firmware development on the program
  • Determine the staffing needed to develop hardware and firmware and work with functional managers to adjust staffing within multiple teams
  • Serve as a technical and cost performance interface with the customer and senior management
  • Collect, manage and report the program metrics
  • Coordinate between the System Architect, Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering Integration & Test Lead, program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline
  • Align measurement objectives and activities to meet program performance goals and objectives
  • Minimum 10% travel to be expected (to customer, supplier, and other Northrop Grumman locations)

This position is contingent upon the successful completion of an active US Government Secret Clearance.
This role can be filled as a Principal Hardware/Firmware CAM or a Senior Principal Hardware/Firmware CAM
Basic Qualifications for Principal Hardware/Firmware CAM:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, or related technical field, a Master's degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 1 years of experience.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience
  • Knowledge Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience measuring hardware and digital technology development progress against baseline estimates
  • Experience with design processes including hardware requirements definition, conceptual design, detailed design, verification, production transitioning
  • Experience directing multiple development teams
  • Experience in hardware/firmware development, integration, and test
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Clearance within a timeframe set forth by management.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, or related technical field, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience
  • Knowledge Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience measuring hardware and digital technology development progress against baseline estimates
  • Experience with design processes including hardware requirements definition, conceptual design, detailed design, verification, production transitioning
  • Experience directing multiple development teams
  • Experience in hardware/firmware development, integration, and test
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Clearance within a timeframe set forth by management.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) certification / experience
  • Experience developing cost and schedule estimates for hardware/firmware development of DoD or Commercial Avionics
  • Experience with DO-254 Safety Critical Hardware development processes
  • Experience with High-Speed Digital Design and Verification
  • Experience with FPGA/SOC/ASIC implementation (VHDL/Verilog, Synthesis, Timing Closure)
  • Experience with FW V&V technologies (System Verilog, UVM, Hardware-In-Loop)
  • Knowledge of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) or Navigation equations / processing
  • Experience managing cost accounts of $10M+ annually in labor
  • Active United States Government Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
