Job description

Position: Semiconductor Mass Production - Inline Monitoring (IM) Engineer

Location: COVINGTON, GA

ย

JOB SUMMARY

The Inline Monitoring (IM) Engineer is responsible for monitoring real-time metrology and inspection data during the manufacturing process to ensure process stability and prevent yield loss. This role focuses on utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) and inline data to detect process excursions at an early stage, initiating immediate corrective actions to prevent mass scrap, and driving overall yield stability. The IM Engineer serves as a guardian of the production line, ensuring that every process step remains within its optimized window.

ย

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Real-time Process Monitoring, Statistical Process Control (SPC), OCAP Management, Yield Correlation Analysis

ย

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor real-time inline metrology and inspection data to evaluate the stability of the production line.
  • Establish and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, including setting and optimizing control limits for key process parameters.
  • Identify Out-of-Control (OOC) or Out-of-Spec (OOS) events and lead the Out-of-Control Action Plan (OCAP) to hold and disposition affected lots.
  • Analyze correlations between inline defect data and final wafer/substrate yield to improve yield prediction models.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering teams to identify sources of variability and develop new monitoring points to enhance process control.
  • Generate daily and weekly yield reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for management and cross-functional teams.
  • Optimize data sampling strategies to balance inspection coverage with manufacturing throughput.
  • Design and manage automated monitoring dashboards and alarm systems for 24/7 production oversight.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ย

ย

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and their application in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced skills in statistical software (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Spotfire) to analyze large-scale manufacturing datasets.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor or substrate manufacturing process flows and key metrology parameters.
  • Proficiency in using MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and basic database querying (SQL).

ย

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to make rapid, accurate decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate between Production, Engineering, and Quality departments.
  • Proactive problem-solving approaches identify and mitigate potential yield risks before they escalate.
  • Bilingual in Korean

ย

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Yield Improvement, Statistics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

ย

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of experience in yield enhancement, process control, or quality engineering within the semiconductor, display, or PCB industry.
  • Proven track record of yield improvement projects in a high-volume manufacturing (HVM) environment.
