Job description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician Level 2 is responsible for more complex implementation, documentation, and improvement of manufacturing processes. This role requires a deeper understanding of manufacturing workflows, the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, and the capacity to work more independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, including SOPs, work instructions, process flow diagrams and equipment layouts.
  • Support in the implementation of process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of production data to identify trends and areas for potential process improvement.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by conducting time studies, data collection for capacity analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure that process changes are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues, minimizing production downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of processes to identify potential issues before they cause failures.
  • Provide training and support to Level 1 technicians on documentation standards and basic process improvement techniques.
  • Assist engineers in evaluating new manufacturing technologies and methods.
  • Collaborate in the design of tooling and fixturing for production environments.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate Click Bond policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in process documentation, including creating SOPs and process flow diagrams.
  • Ability to analyze production data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Knowledge of basic lean manufacturing principles.
  • Has knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) and basic statistical methods.
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Speaks clearly in all situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings including, procedures and written information.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in the decision-making process.
  • Adheres to written and verbal instructions, responds well to management guidance, takes ownership of actions, and consistently honors commitments.
  • Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person of an alternate plan.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as aerospace procedures, blueprints, engineering requirements, safety rules, and quality assurance manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and to speak effectively in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer navigation skills as well as experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MRP software (Epicor), and PLM software (ARAS).
  • Ability to write and read English.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Technical training from Community College or other accredited institution preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment required.
  • Successful completion of Lean 101 training, or equivalent required.
  • Other technical certifications desired.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is not a supervisory position.

  • Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools and reach into small places while working on machines.

  • Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend, and reach.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, bend kneel or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work primarily performed in a standard office environment. If in manufacturing areas, may be exposed to noise, smells, heat, dust, etc. Work requires the observance of fire regulations and safe work practices.
