We are seeking a Process Control Engineer to be based in Greenville, South Carolina, to support our East division.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide process control design services at all levels of detail, from conceptual design through final installation, for all construction materials facilities with increasing responsibility. Develop PLC and Human Machine I nterface (HMI) programs to control aggregate facilities with increasing responsibility. Assist the Corporate Network Department in the installation and configuration of plant networks, wireless systems, and firewalls. Serve as the company's representative to interface with and provide technical guidance to system integrators and construction contractors. Provide cost estimates and project schedules for capital and expense projects as needed, with increasing responsibility as experience is gained.
  • Support existing facilities to maintain and upgrade existing control systems.
  • Assess needs and internal resources available to perform the required tasks and coordinate the use of outside contractors as necessary.
  • Mentor/instruct the Regional electrical staff and junior PCEs to ensure conformance to safe and best practices in all aspects of electrical systems, including design, construction, and testing.
  • Create and provide training for Regional Electrical Staff and junior PCE's to improve troubleshooting skills and construction methods.
  • Must maintain knowledge of current methods, best practices, and code standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NEMA relating to assigned work. Develop technical specifications and purchase requisitions for process control equipment.
  • Provide input to the creation and modification of Corporate Standards, Specifications, and Policies.

Cost Estimating - Provide electrical cost estimates for proposed new facilities and plant modifications. These estimates will include costs for PLC and HMI systems, related software, and installation costs.
Engineering Design Services - Provide complete process control design for aggregate, asphalt, and ready-mix facilities. Design shall include ladder logic, HMI, plant networks, and control schematics. Provide technical supervision in formulating calculations, evaluations, feasibility studies, and optimum design criteria for plant electrical integrity, reliability, and endurance. Services provided are conceptual operating plans, detailed layouts, and equipment selections.
Project Management - Provide project management activities on projects working with internal personnel as well as outside contractors, developing schedules and goals to meet milestone requirements.
Project Review - Participate in the review of capital and expense projects pertaining to design correctness, feasibility, and cost for the sections of the project related to process control.
Standardization and Innovation - Participate in the standardization of projects and databases for both engineering and estimating information. Maintain an awareness of technology trends in the electrical and instrumentation industry and the application thereof by competition and others. Analyze future plant control systems and apply new technology and original innovation to attain competitive superiority where possible.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Education. A Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred. A professional engineering license is preferred.
Experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and installation of heavy industrial control systems is desired, preferably in aggregates or a related industry.
Technology Skills. Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley, GE, Wonderware, and Pi Historian systems is preferred. Knowledge of SQL Server and other reporting software is a plus.
Functional Knowledge. Must have knowledge of industrial controls systems and computer, PLC, and HMI programming. Skills identifying electrical problems, troubleshooting, and field installation experience is preferred. Knowledge of computer networking is preferred.
Time Management Skills. Must have the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects and priorities at one time. Must have the ability to work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
Ready to Drive. Must have the ability to drive a pickup truck/car on a daily basis.
