The Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, optimization, and implementation of industrial processes for fiber optic product manufacturing. This includes improvements to safety, quality, efficiency as well as development of new product processes within the designated scope of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Select, design, and modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment as needed to improve safety, quality, throughput, and productivity objectives.
  • Develop and continually improve written work instructions, process set-up sheets, FMEAs, standard operating procedures, visual controls, and additional process documentation.
  • Design and implement shop floor layouts and workflows.
  • Establish and lead training, development, and certification plans for production associates and engineering technicians.
  • Identify, justify, plan, and lead continuous improvement and capacity expansion projects.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment, tooling, and services to execute projects, resolve problems, and improve processes.
  • Interact with customers on technical and quality related topics or issues.
  • Improve housekeeping and safety by applying the 5S principles.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering or equivalent educational experience.
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, process development, new product introduction, or machine / equipment design and integration.
  • Experience with machine or precision mechanical assembly and test methods.
  • Experience with shop floor material handling equipment.
  • Experience with fiber optic assembly and test methods is preferred
  • Experience leading project and/or self-directed work teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of ISO-9000 based quality systems.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, AUTOCAD or other CAD software.
