Laboratory Assistant -PRN
Granger Medical has a Laboratory Assistant opening. Care is our mission. It's our shared vision. At Granger Medical Clinic, exceptional care comes from all of us. We are looking for a friendly and professional Laboratory Assistant to join our lab team and continue on working together to provide excellent patient care. Your experience in specimen processing, pleasant personality and desire to make a difference will be great asset to our team. The ideal Laboratory Assistant will have laboratory experience (phlebotomy, specimen processing, or laboratory assistant).
Location: Taylorsville
Schedule: PRN-Day and Evening shifts as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Great communication with patients.
  • Enjoy working with others, being a team player and willing to help others with tasks.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Unpacks samples brought to the lab from other locations via courier, ensuring all samples are accounted for and all documents are complete, and scanning them into the LIS to mark them "Received"
  • Performs waived tests (Note: STAT tests do not take priority over unpacking the courier run, as performing tests is a secondary job duty. If the courier run is in the lab, MLTs and MTs of any level should run STAT waived tests)
  • Inoculates appropriate growth media with culture specimens
  • Cleans glass pipettes according to established laboratory protocols
  • Performs any work-related task assigned by MLTs or MTs of any level
  • Wipes countertops, tables, shelves, cabinets, external instrument surfaces etc. with appropriate wipes in order to keep them clean and free of dust
  • Helps organize lab space
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous Specimen processing, or equivalent, experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Sedentary work, requiring lifting up to 10lbs
  • Inside, climate-controlled working conditions
