Job description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the department of Radiation Oncology.
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow is to assist the Principal Investigator and other Faculty members with scientific research projects. The primary activity of this position is academic research in association with a faculty member or team. A position is available immediately in the area of mathematical and computational oncology, with special emphasis on biological radiotherapy response dynamics. The laboratory has identified novel mathematical modeling biomarkers to predict patient-specific responses to radiation. These models need to be rigorously calibrated and validated against clinical data, and model selection needs to be performed before prospective clinical translation. Research will be conducted in both mathematical and computational models, and rigorous analysis of model performance against clinical benchmarks.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
-Develop, implement, and solve mathematical and computational model of tumor growth and treatment response.
-Familiarity with MatLab and R is preferred. Ideal candidates would possess experience in multiple programming environments and statistical analyses.
-Maintenance of laboratory safety procedures and records and facilities
-Other duties as assigned
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Education Required: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate
Experience
Required: At least 3 years of experience in mathematical modeling research work
Preferred: Experience and proven scholarship in peer-reviewed publications as a first author and presentations at major meetings.
