Our Reserve Cafe food and culinary zone is an Italian-inspired bakery and kitchen that brings to life high quality culinary offerings within our Starbucks Reserve® experience. Our bakers act as ambassadors for our food platform, preparing our freshly baked pastries and food offerings using premium ingredients. Reserve Cafe bakers will use their knowledge and expertise of our exclusive products to inspire and delight customers by showcasing our sweet and savory food and beverage pairings. Our Reserve Cafe partners strive to exceed the expectations of our partners and customers by showcasing the art of culinary innovation. This job contributes to Starbucks success of the Starbucks Reserve® locations by providing an exceptional experience to all customers as ambassadors of coffee leadership and stewards of culinary quality. Through a commitment to operational excellence, they work together as a team to create the Starbucks® Reserve Experience for their customers and one another. The incumbent is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
As a baker you will:
Food Passionate & Brand Ambassador:
  • Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, Mission, and Values of Starbucks.
  • Serve as an in-store passionate food expert, providing exceptional knowledge of food and beverages as well as information on the quality of ingredients and how our products are made.
  • Demonstrate impeccable composure and the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations. Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operations to standard and to set a positive example for the team.
  • Consistently prepare quality food items for all customers by adhering to recipe and presentation standards.
  • Contribute to our exceptional customer experience by keeping up with production demands throughout the day.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for learning, knowing, and sharing extensive food knowledge and beverage offerings.
  • Maintain knowledge of a wide variety of rotating food and beverage items.

Service:
  • Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating the environment, both in the Reserve Café zone and throughout the space.
  • Provide an exceptional Reserve Café experience by leading with customer connection while seeking to discover and respond to customer needs.
  • Engage customers and leverage selling skills through recommendations by suggesting food and beverage pairings.

Operations:
  • Assemble and finish all food menu items, including pizza, croissants, and brioche; assemble sandwiches and salads and prepare made-to-order baked eggs and aperitivo items.
  • Stock the food display case based on set business levels and supplies for service.
  • Maintain the food case to create an appealing display throughout the day.
  • Ensure proper proofing of various doughs and laminates.
  • Execute daily prep lists and production needs to determine the variety and quantity of goods to bake and assemble by daypart.
  • Receive and verify deliveries from the commissary, ensuring all ingredients and products are prepared and delivered according to established standards.
  • Adhere to standard inventory management and storage procedures.
  • Communicate maintenance concerns or supply needs to management.
  • Complete production sheets and other records as required.
  • Follow Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and products as needed. Manage cleanliness of utensils and equipment.

  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to multitask and prioritize is essential
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, climb stairs, and stand without limitation and for long periods of time
  • Ability to carry 35lb on a consistent basis
  • Ability to occasionally lift and push up to 50lb

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
