AM Bus Company Is Hiring an Assistant Fleet Manager in the Chicago, IL area!

Starting pay Depending on Experienceย 

At Least 3 years experience working with diesel engines

Commercial Driverโ€™s License -ย School Bus and Passenger Endorsement Required

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, Mondayโ€“Friday (with some flexibility as needed)

Responsibilities:

Fleet & Maintenance Operations

  • Oversee daily maintenance and repair of 100+ fleet vehicles
  • Schedule and track DOT inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Review repair orders and verify completed work (including road tests)
  • Manage vehicle spacing and placement, including new vehicle integration
  • Maintain facility appearance and yard condition
  • Report yard conditions to Fleet Manager
  • Supervise Yard Supervisor
  • Assist with vehicle refueling and standby driver

Shop Management

  • Maintain and organize parts inventory
  • Receive and sign deliveries; reconcile orders with open POs
  • Manage vendor communication, and returns
  • Update vendor pricing and part information in company programs

Administrative & Compliance

  • Enter mechanic work forms and updates into Company programs
  • Maintain vehicle files
  • Hold weekly mechanic meetings to review open part orders
  • Maintain spare mechanic keys
  • Implement disciplinary forms and documentation as directed


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience working with diesel engines
  • Commercial Driverโ€™s License
  • School Bus and Passenger Endorsement
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience supervising or leading mechanics preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, NTSB, State, and Federal compliance standards
