POSITION SUMMARY

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing and executing test plans to validate product performance, reliability, and compliance with design requirements. This role supports new product development from prototyping through qualification and production readiness. The Test Engineer will manage laboratory testing activities, analyze and present test results, maintain test infrastructure, and ensure efficient utilization of lab resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed test plans and procedures based on product requirements and design specifications.
  • Execute qualification, verification, and validation tests; collect, tabulate, and document test data.
  • Analyze test results, compare them against performance requirements, and prepare clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Design and conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize product performance and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support failure analysis, including FMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective action validation.
  • Configure and set up testing infrastructure based on specific test needs, including instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and control hardware.
  • Organize and maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and test fixtures to ensure a safe and efficient testing environment.
  • Prepare proposals for laboratory upgrades, new equipment, and improvements to support evolving test requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all testing activities and manage test schedules to maximize laboratory utilization and throughput.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure testing supports project timelines and technical objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, & Skills)

  • Experience in new product development testing and qualification, from prototyping through alpha and pre-production units.
  • Proficiency in conducting and documenting FMEA and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with test setup, instrumentation selection, and development of test infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of lab network architecture and device communication, including LAN and RS232/RS485 serial communication.
  • Experience with data acquisition, processing, and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Minitab, or equivalent software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).

Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification or documented experience working with common refrigerants.
  • Experience in thermal systems, HVAC/R testing, or environmental testing labs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory or industry qualification standards.
