About the Position:

As Marelli drives innovation in automotive excellence, our Marelli Green Technologies Southfield Engineering Center is expanding its capabilities in product quality and reliability.
The Testing Engineer will play a key role in developing and executing advanced testing methodologies for systems and equipment throughout product development and manufacturing processes.
This position will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of test strategies and compliance with industry standards.
You will help elevate product quality, drive performance improvements, and contribute to Marelli's leadership in automotive engineering!

Your Responsibilities will be:
  • Innovative Test Methodology Design: Engineer advanced, cost-effective testing methods and troubleshooting systems to ensure devices meet all phases of product development and manufacturing requirements.
  • Diagnostic Program Development: Assemble test and diagnostic programs while crafting test fixtures and equipment. Finalize comprehensive specifications and establish robust procedures for Marelli's new product offerings.
  • Regulatory and Standards Compliance: Spearhead the development and execution of test procedures aligning with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and industry benchmarks to ensure Marelli's products are synonymous with quality and safety.
  • Calibration and Validation Expertise: Execute meticulous calibration and validation of testing equipment and systems, maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and reliability in Marelli's testing processes.
  • Problem-solving and Continuous Improvement: Lead investigations into product test failures or anomalies, determining corrective actions for equipment or systems while driving recommendations for substantial improvements or changes.
  • Report writing: Prepare & draft technical reports for internal and customers, listing out the methodologies, setup and equipment used and the conclusion of how the products preferred under a specified test.
What Qualifications you will bring:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical or related field).
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in a testing laboratory environment, with a history of advancing test procedures and equipment design.
  • Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Test Engineer (CTE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar are beneficial. Knowledge of and experience with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proven expertise in testing methodologies and equipment design; talented in developing diagnostic programs; adept in project management and resource allocation; strong ability to solve complex problems; excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Proficient with Office tools (Power Point, Excel, etc.)
Other skills that we would welcome:
  • Experience with exhaust systems or thermal components
  • Knowledge of fatigue, vibration, and thermal systems
  • Experience with data acquisition tools
  • Experience with OEM DVP&R
  • Comfortable performing hands-on activities such as instrumentation and parts swap on bench test or vehicle and desk activities like specs review and reports elaboration.
Expectations from you in this position:
  • Deliver an improvement in testing efficiency through the introduction of innovative testing methodologies.
  • Successfully design and implement at least three new test fixtures or equipment enhancements that significantly reduce setup times and increase accuracy.
  • Lead Marelli to achieve 100% regulatory compliance in all tested products, emphasizing an error-free, customer-focused outcome.
  • Initiate and complete a significant project to resolve a longstanding product reliability issue, resulting in improved product performance and elevated customer satisfaction.
