Purpose

The Manager Standards Engineering will manage all Electric Standards with a focus on reliability, safety, efficiency, sustainability and good electric utility engineering practices. Responsible for developing goals and strategies to ensure professional-level quality engineering is implemented throughout all Standards Engineering activities. Manage department O&M budget to approved budget levels.

Accountabilities
  • Facilitate teams of subject matter authorities to build and coordinate policies and procedures governing all aspects of Standards tasks.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to achieve established strategies.
  • Plans, assigns, trains, and instructs the work of other professionals in engineering.
  • Operate under limited guidance while weighing and evaluating multiple, complex factors requiring a high degree of judgement, analytical ability, and problem solving.
  • Establish good electric utility management practices and processes and ensure they are adopted by all staff and contractors.
  • Direct, coordinate, and review budgets and actuals, providing staff direction and guidance on future objectives and goals.
  • Be an experienced, knowledgeable resource for new and less experienced staff within the Standards Engineering Department.
  • Provide general guidance and training for non-subject matter specialists.
  • Cultivate, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with manager, supervisors, employees, and other partners to gain their collaboration and support.
  • Train and develop potential management staff for flawless management succession.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of electric utility industry experience
