Job SummaryCIS is seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Staging Technician to join our Warehouse/Staging team. In this role, you will be responsible for staging, configuring, and testing network hardware - including Fortinet, Meraki, and Cradlepoint devices, along with routers, access points, and network switches - prior to deployment at client sites nationwide. This position is well suited to candidates with HelpDesk or NOC-level technical experience who are looking to apply that background in a hands-on, hardware-focused staging environment. You'll work closely with Provisioning, Warehouse, Shipping, and Field Services teams to ensure every device leaves our facility configured correctly and ready for turnup.
Key Responsibilities- Stage and configure networking equipment - including Fortinet firewalls, Meraki access points/switches, and Cradlepoint routers - according to client specifications and standardized configuration templates.
- Configure routers, access points, network switches, and related equipment prior to shipment, ensuring settings, licensing, and firmware are current and correct.
- Perform initial provisioning tasks such as SIM/APN configuration and carrier activation coordination as needed (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and similar).
- Test staged equipment for functionality and connectivity prior to release, validating configurations against work orders, project specs, and client requirements.
- Troubleshoot basic configuration and connectivity issues, escalating more complex technical issues to NOC/Engineering resources as needed.
- Accurately document staged assets and configuration details within the company's WMS (Triton) and related tracking tools.
- Coordinate with Provisioning, Warehouse, and Shipping teams to ensure a smooth handoff of staged equipment for packing and outbound shipment.
- Label, organize, and prepare staged devices for shipment in accordance with company packing and shipping standards.
- Support periodic inventory audits and help maintain accuracy of asset records and device status.
- Identify and flag equipment defects, discrepancies, or billing issues for resolution.
Minimum Qualifications- 2+ years of experience in a technical support or NOC role.
- Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related protocols.
- Experience with remote access and network troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High School diploma, general education degree, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- Certifications in networking (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
- Experience with configuration updates and equipment swaps.
- Familiarity with ISP operations and equipment.
- Previous experience in a Tier 1 or similar role within a NOC environment.
