A2LA is dedicated to formally recognizing testing, calibration and other laboratories and related organizations for their quality and technical competency with a variety of international standards (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, etc.), federal requirements (FDA, GLP, FCC, etc.), state (cannabis, etc.), and local requirements (water testing, etc.).

The Role
A2LA is seeking a committed professional to assist in the day-to-day accreditation operations for the Quality Management Systems program in either our Frederick, MD or Boulder, CO office! The responsibility of the Program Manager will be to monitor processes, procedures, and applicable standards concerning the Quality Management Systems program. This position serves to ensure the quality and competency of all conformity assessment bodies (CABs) under the program.
About You
You are a technically focused individual with strong multitasking skills. You have proven excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. You can manage your time effectively and adapt to changing priorities. You are a self-motivated individual who is dedicated to the success of the program.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the creation of, and the accreditation process(es) of CABs for ISO/IEC 17021-1.
  • Serve as a main point of contact in certification for all routine and non-routine inquiries.
  • Perform assessor over-sites in the Certification area.
  • Proactively manage all aspects of the assigned accreditation program, such as ensuring that program documents and forms are current, and relevant association website sections are current.
  • Represent and participate in relevant industry groups as an accreditation expert.
  • Act as a liaison for external regulators and other organizations associated with the assigned program.
  • Develop and implement new growth strategy for the Certification program.
  • Train staff and prospective assessors to the ISO/IEC 17021-1 standard.
  • Collaborate with shared services to develop, maintain, and implement business plans targeting Certification program growth.
  • Responsible for revision and/or development of external documents for international involvement of specific Certification conformity activities related to ISO/IEC 17021-1 and applicable subscopes.

A2LA may provide exceptions to educational requirements for veterans who demonstrate the ability to perform the duties listed in this job posting.
Requirements
A successful candidate for this position typically meets the following criteria:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a scientific field of study.
  • 10 years of certification technical experience (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 2200, etc).
  • An understanding and implementation of relevant conformity assessment standards (e.g., IAF MD documents).
  • Experience with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs).
  • Experience with assessing (or auditing) including principles, techniques, and application of requirements.
  • Experience in program development.
  • Evidence of strong internal/external customer service orientation.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Some travel will be required.

Benefits and Compensation
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience. The wage range is $75,000-100,000 annually.
