This leader will safeguard critical operations across all practice facility, stadium, and HQ environments including high visibility game-day systems, proprietary team platforms, and sensitive corporate assets.
Drawing on cybersecurity and risk management best practices used across the NFL, this role will guide strategy, lead incident response functions, ensure compliance with league-wide requirements, and represent the organization in internal and external cyber governance forums. The Cyber Security Manager will also lead the Commanders' Information Security Committee Meetings, ensuring cross-functional visibility, accountability, and alignment.
This position is built on responsibilities found across similar NFL cybersecurity functions, including major-event cyber oversight, network security management, vulnerability operations, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity Program Leadership
• Lead and evolve the Commanders' cybersecurity strategy, standards, roadmap, and operating procedures in alignment with NFL requirements and industry best practices.
• Oversee proactive threat identification, detection, and incident response for enterprise systems, stadium technology, and team operations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the cybersecurity function and departments including IT, Football Operations, Stadium Operations, Marketing, Legal, HR, Partnerships, and the NFL league office.
• Lead the Information Security Committee Meetings, ensuring all departments are briefed on risks, open initiatives, incidents, and policy updates.
Risk Management & Governance
• Conduct and maintain cyber risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Interpret and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, NFL guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide cybersecurity risk consultation for new technologies, partnerships, vendors, or business initiatives.
Security Operations & Technical Oversight
• Oversee enterprise firewalls, NAC systems, endpoint security, SIEM/SOC platforms,
and network detection/response technologies.
• Review and analyze security logs, alerts, and traffic to detect threats or unauthorized configuration changes.
• Lead cybersecurity projects such as tool deployments, governance enhancements, infrastructure upgrades, and process improvements.
Event & Venue Cybersecurity
• Ensure cybersecurity readiness and risk mitigation for all Live events (game days, concerts, community activations, league mandated operations, etc).
• Coordinate closely with stadium operations, broadcast/media partners, and vendor teams to secure live event technologies and critical systems.
Collaboration, Training & Culture
• Educate employees on cybersecurity risks, safe computing practices, and incident reporting protocols.
• Develop cybersecurity awareness and reinforce a security first culture across all levels of the organization.
• Engage constructively with business units to help them understand and address cybersecurity implications of decisions.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or related roles, with 2-3 years in leadership or team lead capacity.
• Deep understanding of network architectures, enterprise security technologies, firewalls, EDR, SIEM, NAC, and related controls.
• Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, managing vulnerability programs, and supporting incident response.
• Strong communicator capable of translating technical concepts for diverse audiences, including executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
• Experience in sports, entertainment, live event environments, or similar high-availability operations.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, GIAC, or similar.
• Experience supporting major events or complex global operations requiring real-time cyber oversight.
Competencies
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
• Threat centric mindset and experience in proactive defense.
• Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional groups.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, especially during live game operations or major events.
