A stable attendant is responsible for caring for animals like horses and mules. In this career, you measure and mix the correct feed supplements; clean stables and animal bedding; monitor for disease or illness; and wash, brush, trim, and curry coats to improve the animal’s appearance. A caring role, you perform the job duties necessary to keep animals healthy. You sometimes saddle horses or shoe animals, and some stable attendants work with zoo animals. Formal education is not required, but qualifications include a high school education, experience working as a tender, and skills in problem-solving and critical thinking.
